Production-led from groundbreaking to handover.
KSC is a video production team based in Newcastle. Construction time lapse sits inside a broader practice covering corporate video, drone, photography, training content, and event coverage.
Drawing on 15+ years of media production experience, camera angles are chosen to tell the story of the build – the positions that show scale, progress, and the human effort behind the project. That thinking carries through to the final videos.
A portal designed to make your project shareable.
From day one, your project is live in a branded client portal. Your team and stakeholders can browse the full image archive, scrub the timeline to any date, and generate shareable links to send to investors, councils, or marketing teams – without giving them login access.
Project milestone markers keep key dates visible on the timeline. The portal stays active throughout the build, giving everyone connected to the project a single place to follow progress.
The documentation isn’t just for storing. It’s for sharing.
Newcastle-based and watching daily.
Cameras run autonomously and are remotely monitored throughout the project. Each unit reports its status, signal strength, capture activity, and storage – so if something needs attention, it’s caught the same day.
KSC is based in Newcastle, with direct phone and email access throughout your project. The person managing your cameras is always reachable.
How it Works
The time lapse captures the build. Professional production at the start and finish captures the story.
Every project is built in three stages.
What to expect
Site assessment
A conversation about your project, the build timeline, and the site itself.
We talk through camera placement, mounting options, and any logistical considerations, then make recommendations based on what will give you the best result.
The final call on scope is yours.
Installation
KSC handles the install. Existing infrastructure preferred where available, including poles, neighbouring rooftops, and light columns.
Where the site doesn’t have a suitable mounting point, we bring our own. Self-contained pole-on-base rigs and IBC-mounted setups let us deploy on sites with no fixed structures at all.
Capture and monitor
The cameras run autonomously, captured imagery uploaded daily to your branded portal.
KSC monitors the unit remotely, watching signal strength, storage, and capture activity. If something needs attention, it gets attention the same day.
Edited videos at handover
KSC returns to capture the completed build with the same level of production as the launch shoot. Drone and ground-based footage closes the videos. The result is a finished cinematic piece, graded, scored, and ready to deliver.

Drone progress documentation
Some projects are too large or visually significant to capture from ground level alone. Multi-stage civil infrastructure, major commercial developments, sites where the scale of the build only reads from above.
For projects where aerial perspective adds genuine value, monthly drone progress flights document the build at scale. The footage is integrated into the final film at no extra cost. Some clients also use it for monthly stakeholder updates, investor briefings, or community communications.
Drone is offered as an add-on, not a standard inclusion. Pricing is based on site location and frequency. Based in Newcastle, serving the Hunter Valley, Sydney, and beyond.

Kye Smith Creative is a video production team based in Newcastle, working across Australia. The construction timelapse work sits alongside a broader practice that includes corporate video, drone, training and LMS content, event coverage, and live streaming.
Led by Kye Smith and supported by trusted local crew, KSC has been delivering production work for over a decade across education, construction, government, tech, and commercial clients.
The same team that documents your build is the team that could shoot your next staff training video, your next conference, or your next corporate campaign.
Construction time lapse FAQs
How much does construction time lapse cost?
Every site is scoped individually, and pricing is per camera angle per month. Additional angles on the same site cost significantly less than the first because the infrastructure is already in place. Drone progress visits and handover films are scoped alongside.
The full breakdown is in the KSC pricing guide, sent instantly from the form on this page.
Do the cameras need power on site?
No. KSC runs both mains-powered and fully solar/battery camera systems, so time lapse can start from day one, before site power is connected. Connectivity is handled over 4G or Starlink where there’s no site network.
How long can the cameras stay on site?
As long as the build runs. Systems are designed for multi-year projects, with every image backed up to the cloud and mirrored to secure storage the same day it’s captured.
Can my team see the images during the build?
Yes, that’s the point of the portal. Every project gets a branded portal where your team and stakeholders can browse the full archive, scrub the timeline to any date, download high-res stills, and generate shareable links for investors, councils or marketing without handing out logins.
Who owns the footage?
You do. Clients own all captured imagery once fees are paid. KSC retains a marketing licence unless otherwise agreed, and confidential projects are respected on request.
Do you cover Sydney and regional NSW?
Yes. KSC is Newcastle-based and installs across the Hunter, Central Coast, Sydney and regional NSW. Being local to Newcastle means most Hunter sites can be reached within hours if something needs attention.
What do we get at the end of the project?
Two edited films: a short cut built for LinkedIn and stakeholder updates, and a long-form version for board presentations and project archives. Both combine the time lapse with professional drone and ground footage from the start and end of the build.
