Kye Smith Creative - Newcastle Videographer, 15+ Years Experience
Kye Smith has been working as a videographer since graduating with a Bachelor of Communication from the University of Newcastle – first as a camera operator and editor across a range of productions, then through Kye Smith Creative, which he launched in 2018. In that time he’s built up more than 15 years of experience across corporate, government, infrastructure, education, and creative industries in Newcastle and Sydney.
The scope of work is broad by design. Clients come from construction, government, higher education, and the private sector, and the brief is different every time. That variety is what keeps the work interesting – and what makes it easier to bring genuine problem-solving to a project rather than just a formula.
How a production comes together depends on the project. Some jobs Kye handles end-to-end on his own. Others call for a full crew – he works with a trusted network of contractors who join shoots based on scope. Either way, he’s across every project from brief to delivery.
Outside of work Kye has the most important job of being a dad. He also plays drums in a punk band and runs a YouTube drum chronology series that has pulled millions of views over the years – opening up opportunities he never expected, including playing with some of his favourite bands and a performance at Madison Square Garden during a New York Knicks halftime show. It’s that same understanding of what makes content worth watching that he brings to every client project.
